Baths road bike tour

Bad Saulgau landscape

TOUR INFORMATION *

"The second stage of the bathing cycle path leads through Upper Swabia - from Bad Saulgau to Aulendorf.

This stage of the bathing cycle path shows us to four pretty health resorts. From Bad Saulgau we first continue in the direction of Bad Buchau. On the way there we cross shady forests and cycle past wide pastures and arable land. After a short time we reach Bad Buchau in the middle of a unique natural landscape. During a walk through the spa gardens and the adjacent wobbly forest, you can let the tree tops tremble while jumping on the soft ground. The nearby Adelindis Therme welcomes us with an inviting sauna area, which is equipped, among other things, with an underground sauna.
Before continuing on the bathing cycle path in the direction of Bad Schussenried, we recommend a detour to the Federsee. There we should put the bike aside and let our gaze wander over this breathtaking natural paradise from the footbridge. The variety of plants and the over 260 different bird species impress every visitor. The unique archaeological finds of the lake, the four sites of which were added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2011, are vividly presented in the Federseemuseum with stone age village.

After this short detour, the bathing cycle path leads east to the village of Oggelshausen, where we turn right at the end of the village. We cycle through the wonderful reed landscape, past extensive fields and farms. Before we turn right at the crossroads before Steinhausen in the direction of Olzreute, it is worth taking a short detour to the village of Steinhausen to visit its pilgrimage church, which is well worth seeing and is considered the "most beautiful village church in the world". Back on the bathing cycle path, the path leads through a wooded area, past idyllic farms and Lake Olzreuter to Bad Schussenried.

There is a lot to see in the cittaslow town of Bad Schussenried. For those interested in culture, a visit to the Schussenried Monastery with the famous Rococo library is worthwhile. We shouldn't miss the St. Magnus Church with its choir stalls, which are well worth seeing. The brewery restaurant with the adjoining beer mug museum awaits you for a snack in between. If you want to spend more time in the lovely town, you can visit the carriage collection. Around Bad Schussenried, the Ailinger adventure mill or the Upper Swabian Museum Village Kürnbach invite you to take a trip back in time.

After leaving Bad Schussenried at the western exit of the city, the bathing cycle path leads past the Zellersee along the edge of the forest to Otterswang. A visit to the late baroque parish church of St. Owald is worthwhile here at any time of the year, but it is especially attractive in autumn. A large Thanksgiving carpet is laid here from numerous fruits, ears and grains, which attracts numerous visitors to the town year after year.

From Otterswang, the route leads directly to Aulendorf, the next and last place on this stage. Before we review the day in the warm water of the Schwabentherme with its glass domed roof, we should visit the fully restored Aulendorf Castle with the toy museum. The knight's dinner in the medieval knight's cellar provides the culinary highlight of the trip. " (* Source: outdooractive )
